2013 Census iwi individual profiles

Iwi individual profiles give you an overview of those people who stated they were of Māori descent and belonged to one or more iwi in the 2013 Census. Get information on topics such as age and sex, language, religion, and housing.

A poster in English and te reo Māori is available for the 74 largest individual iwi. View or download the poster from the Links box within these profiles.

Use the list below to find information about iwi you’re interested in:

  • click the plus icon next to a region (rohe) to expand the list to see the individual iwi
  • select an individual iwi to find information about that iwi 
  • alternatively, use the Google search toolbar at the top of the screen to find an individual iwi profile.
