Tatauranga Umanga Māori – consultation paper describes the work that Statistics New Zealand has been doing to respond to the need for statistics about Māori businesses. This paper’s purpose is to inform users of our progress in this endeavour and to seek feedback on issues raised.
Estimates from some Statistics New Zealand outputs have been provided in the consultation paper to aid the consultation process and should not be treated as official statistics. They should not be interpreted as Māori contributing a certain percentage to the New Zealand economy or in comparison to the New Zealand economy. Also, they should not be directly compared against results from other research reports.
Thanks for your feedback
Comments on this paper were taken until 31 August 2012. We asked:
- Do you support our working definition of Māori authorities as a useful starting point?
- What other administrative data sources could be used to identify Māori authorities or Māori businesses?
- Of the data provided in the consultation paper, what is the most likely to be useful for you?
- What other priority information needs do you have – from existing Statistics NZ data collections?
