For the September 2016 quarter compared with the June 2016 quarter, in seasonally adjusted volume
- residential building activity rose 2.4 percent
- non-residential building activity was unchanged
- all building activity rose 1.4 percent.
The volume trend for residential building work has doubled over the five years since the low point in the September 2011 quarter.
In current prices, the actual value of all building work was $5.2 billion – $3.3 billion on residential buildings
and $1.9 billion on non-residential buildings.
The regions with the highest total values were:
- Auckland – $1.9 billion
- Canterbury – $1.2 billion.
