Methodology and classification changes to Value of Building Work Put in Place statistics describes the methodology we will use in calculating Value of Building Work Put in Place (VBW) statistics from the March 2015 quarter. It describes technical details of the methodology, along with classification changes implemented at the same time.
Why value of building work put in place is changing:
- to reduce respondent burden
- to improve regional information – new regional seasonally adjusted and trend series will give a better picture of changes below the national level
- to use building categories consistent with those in building consent statistics
- to make our data processing more efficient and robust as we are now using software designed for multiple economic outputs.
The changes will apply from Value of Building Work Put in Place: March 2015 quarter to be published on 4 June 2015.
