Visitor arrivals from Australia and China rise
Key facts
In August 2012 compared with August 2011:
Visitor arrivals (178,300) were up 2,400. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
China (up 2,900)
Australia (up 2,800)
the United Kingdom (down 2,400).
Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (193,500) were up 2,400. The biggest changes were in departures to:
the United States (up 2,200)
Australia (down 3,500).
In August 2012:
Seasonally adjusted figures showed a net loss of 300 migrants.
