Goods and services trade by country: Year ended June 2019

Goods and services trade by country statistics bring together imports and exports of goods and services by country to present a comprehensive view of economic trade between New Zealand and our main trading partners.

10 October 2019: We have corrected the Goods and services trade by country: Year ended June 2019 Excel tables, CSV, and map CSV files. The correction was a result of a processing error for the September 2016 quarter.

The correction has reduced total services imports by $105 million and increased total services exports by $4 million for the year ended June 2017. It also affected to a smaller extent a number of services series by activity for the following country groupings and countries:

  • APEC
  • ASEAN
  • European Union
  • OECD
  • Australia
  • China, People’s Republic of
  • United States of America
  • Singapore
  • Country unspecified

This processing error also affected the years ended March 2017, December 2016, and September 2016, and these values have been corrected in the CSV file for the June 2019 release.

The correct data was used in the Balance of payments and international investment position: June 2019 quarter and Gross domestic product: June 2019 quarter, published on 18 September 2019 and 19 September 2019, respectively.

Stats NZ is an open and transparent organisation and corrects errors as soon as practicable. We have rigorous processes to check data before publication. We review any error to reduce and mitigate future risks. Stats NZ regrets the error and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
