Food prices rose 0.1 percent in December 2020. After seasonal adjustment, they were up 0.5 percent.
In December 2020 compared with November 2020:
- fruit and vegetable prices rose 1.4 percent (up 0.9 percent after seasonal adjustment)
- meat, poultry, and fish prices fell 0.3 percent
- grocery food prices rose 0.3 percent (up 0.7 percent after seasonal adjustment)
- non-alcoholic beverage prices fell 1.7 percent
- restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.3 percent.
Annual change
Food prices increased 2.9 percent in the year ended December 2020.
In December 2020 compared with December 2019:
- fruit and vegetable prices increased 8.9 percent
- meat, poultry, and fish prices decreased 0.7 percent
- grocery food prices increased 1.8 percent
- non-alcoholic beverage prices increased 1.7 percent
- restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices increased 3.8 percent.
